O’Hare International Airport

50 YEARS OF WORLD TRAVEL /

On March 23rd, 1963, President John F. Kennedy held a dedication ceremony naming Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport as a tribute to Lt. Commander Edward H. “Butch” O’Hare – further establishing the facility as an icon of Chicago and a crossroads of the world.

Fifty years later, this milestone was celebrated with a week of events and festivities honoring individuals and organizations who have been responsible for, and in support of the airport, and its invaluable impact on the city of Chicago.

To celebrate the anniversary, we worked with the The Chicago Department of Aviation to develop a commemorative logo as a throwback to 1963. With a contemporary twist, the mark and materials take form through historic visuals – creating a nostalgic environment and highlighting fifty years of flight and international travel.
